Why Vision Exams are Important!
Regardless of your age or physical health, it is important for everyone to have regular eye exams. Adults should have their eyes tested to keep their prescriptions current and to check for early signs of eye disease and problems that could lead to vision loss. For children, eye exams play an important role in normal development. In addition to routine comprehensive eyecare, the doctors at Kirman Eye provide emergency eye care including removal of corneal foreign bodies, treatment of corneal abrasions and conjunctivitis ("pink eye"). Treatment for a host of chronic ocular diseases such as dry eye syndrome and glaucoma is also available at Kirman Eye. Some of the testing includes:
- Pachymetry - This instrument is used to measure corneal thickness.
- Tonometry - checks the pressure found in the eye.
- Gonioscopy - evaluates the fluid drainage system of the eye.
- Biomicroscopy - evaluates the surface of the eye in great detail.
- Color Vision Testing - looks for indication of optic nerve pathology.
- Stereopsis Testing - reveals the patient’s ability to see “3-D” images. It also examines the patient's ability to use their eyes together.
- Wheelchair Accessible Exam Room - Full examinations can be performed while patients remain seated in their wheelchair.
