The son of Dr. Shahane and Janet Kirman, Gary was born and raised in Hummelstown, PA. Sharing his father’s interest in optometry, Gary earned a B.S. in Biology at Lafayette College (1982) and received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (1986). During his studies, Gary broadened his knowledge of optometry by participating in numerous optometric externships. Gary also trained in several subspecialties of optometry including the treatment and management of eye disease, low vision, and pediatric vision.
In 1986 Dr. Gary Kirman joined his father as a partner at Kirman Eye where he specializes in contact lens fitting and Low Vision evaluations. He has served through the chairs of the central Pennsylvania optometric society. He was awarded optometrist of the year from the central Pennsylvania optometric society. He was also the first optometrist to receive the "Young Optometrist of the year award" from the Pennsylvania optometric association.
Dr. Kirman was a member of two mission teams that provided eye care to the people of Dominica and Belize. Dr. Kirman helped the teams deliver needed routine eye care, post operative eye care, treatment of eye disease, and dispensing of spectacles to the people in these two countries.
Outside of the office, Dr. Kirman spends time with his wife Jodi, and their four children, Philip, Joshua, Nathanael, and Olivia. He enjoys boating, water skiing, hunting, snow skiing, and is an active member of his church.
